PowerPoint doesn't bore people. People bore people. We are so quick to blame the tool, when it's really the person using the tool that sucks. This article from the BBC does a great job of calling out the ways in which people screw up PowerPoint presentations. I see this so much with all kinds of technology. These days we have so many amazing tools at our disposal--tools that are supposed to bring us increased efficiency, clearer communications, greater productivity, etc. But so often people use the tools only because they're cheap and ubiquitous, without taking even a little bit of time to structure an intelligent and compelling argument. In the end, technology must always be subservient to ideas.
